Post subject: What is the passenger car mentioned in this article?

Hello all,

Does anybody here have any idea as to what the acutal identity of this car is? I very much doubt it was actually used on the 1947 or 1975 Freedom Train - and that the association made in the story is due to the reporter's confusion.

Many thanks,
Tom Cornillie

A few years ago, I was driving thru Sharon and stumbled across a restaurant with an ex-NYC lightweight ACF aluminum-bodied (with aluminum fluting, no less) 1946-built baggage-coach that was part of the building, and an ex-Amtrak, ex-ATSF PS 1947 or 1950 (don't have my notes from the trip in front of me) 44 seat coach that was in the parking lot and leased out as some sort of business. I wonder if the "Freedom Train Car" is actually the ex-Amtrak coach. I'll have to check my pictures, but I think it still had the so-called Amtrak "Phase 1" scheme with the pointless arrow.

Tom,
The car was Amtrak #4543, which I think was Santa Fe #2940( there is a question mark next to my notes about this car and I don't remember why I put it there). The car is a Pullman built car though.

I guess this raises the question, other then the Steam Locomotive used on the second one, what cars and locomotives still exist from both trains?
