Is this item an actual locomotive headlight or just a spotlight being passed off as a railroad artifact?:

Thanks!

Yes, that's real. It's what P-N called a switcher headlight, and they could be found as a back-up light on tenders. P-N said it was designed to give wider-angle light beam than the standard headlights.

It was also shorter, and could fit on the front of a smokebox of an engine with no pilot truck.

The guys from the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum have stepped forward and purchased the light for preservation purposes. It will be donated to the Museum in Campo, CA.

Thanks to Ken Helm and Larry Rose in joining me to save this light.
