I just deleted a thread that was starting about a link to a nude oriental woman posing with a steam locomotive. Since we serve readers and students of railway history of all ages, I felt that this link, and all the comments that were related to it had to be removed.

If anyone disagrees, please tell Hume to fine me 50% of my moderator's salary for a month.

Smart move. As Kevin probably noticed, I replied to it with a big freaking warning for anyone opening it at work or maybe even worse, (like I did) right in front of the wife!

Even "Railroad" Mag. in its pulp days showed clothing on any oriental "cheesecake" in their photos.

Right now, Freeman Hubbard's ghost is having a good laugh in that Big Rock Candy Mountain RR bar car up in the sky !!! Think about it. Not only were those pictures in Railroad Magazine considered to be risque by many at the time, but every issue contained at least one letter from somebody who objected strongly to them. Not only did the overwhelming majority of railroaders enjoy these pictures, but I likewise thought they were pretty cool as a young lad. Look how well I turned out.

While it isn't politically correct to say this, every railroader I know personally liked those QJ pictures, and our Chinese Steam Yahoo group has recieved only favorable reaction to the link in question.

All the same, I don't blame the RyPN moderator for deleting the thread. I apologize if anybody is seriously offended, although I was under the impression that internet users will have already blocked the delivery of some types of web content based on personal preferrence. No harm intended. I was just trying to liven things up a little bit.

Words can be filtered, but it is darn near impossible to filter pictures (unless the pictures have text captions attached). I do not object to adult content in a controlled environment, that is, one that is properly labeled and categorized. This forum should remain open to all ages, at least for reading and research purposes. If it contained age inappropriate content, parents would have no choice but to block the whole site.

I have the same opinion on other content, such as obscene words. So the monitoring for language and "flaming" on this site is appropriate for the same purpose.
