The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway in Wirksworth, England, is an active and thriving operation today. Once abandoned, a group of enterprising and resourceful middle-aged railfans put in hours of back breaking labor to make it a tourist line on par with our best, here in the states. Equipment has been donated by owners and railways looking to leave some heritage behind. So successful, some equipment has had to be turned away (politely) in order to properly house and maintain the working roster.
This past weekend, Wirksworth hosted a large model railorading exhibit and display. This privately owned shunter, "Toffo", was decked out appropriatly by its owner for the occassion. The EVR was flooded with guests and trains ran up and down their lines all weekend.
