After reading all the comments on the Bobyar2001 situation, it seems that the beginning of the thread was aimed at Bob, so all comments afterward were coming to his defense. Whether it is one person posting multiple times, or even a busy day on the board with many of us starting new threads, the older topics will be pushed back.

Just for fun, I clicked on page 682, which placed me in May of 1998. When I entered a thread, my only option was to continue in the thread or hit "Topics Index." "Index" takes you right back to page one. Can it be set up so that while you are on a page, you can return to that page, instead of going back to 1 all the time?

This way, yesterdays posts are as fresh as today's, and you can continue into the past week without coming back to 1 all the time.

Huh?

Besides being confused with the explaination, yesterdays posts aren't as fresh as todays, they are a day older and many are becoming stale. After three days, they begin to smell funny. Not sure I understand why that would be a problem, otherwise. You can click on a thingy that shows just any posts that have come in since your last visit if you are worried about missing anything.

Non illegitimi carborundum, Bob. I just click on what seems interesting to me, but you could consider limiting your link posts to maybe 6 per day if it will make everybody happy. Too many could give folks the impression you don't have a life apart from RyPN.

Two thoughts, Tim.

First, you can always go up and just use the back button on your browser to go back one page at a time.

Second, as for improving the thread view functionality, the current software is really meant to be used in flat view, and it offers many useful customization options in that view.

Installing the MobyThreads plug-in that permits a simple thread view was a concession on Hume's part to those who strongly preferred threads. However, the functions are limited becuase flat view is the native mode of the software, the plug-in is a kind of kludge attached on top, and its not a feature we want to invest very scarce time and energy in customizing further.

I hope that doesn't come off as too blunt, but it is the honest answer to the question.
