Taken in 2004, so not real timely, but looks a lot like that line of Pere Marquette 2-8-4s that languished at New Buffalo, Michigan into the early 1960s.

Always a sad sight and brings back some sad memories of cold Frisco engines lined up at Lindenwood waiting to go to Madison, IL for scrapping.
I do take delight at the sight of dead diesels tho. No sentiment there for me.

Oh, to have a video of Al Phillips telling, in great and strident detail, just what he we would do with "the last two diesels on earth."

He's mellowed a bit over the years, but in his prime he could make the Norris Yard shop ring with his oratory. And send tears of laughter down every cheek within earshot.

Diesel electric locomotives are a major part of our railroad heritage and, if we have a "don't care" attitude, that part of our railroad history will be gone.

Younger railfans have never seen a steam locomotive in mainline service, they know only diesels.
