There is an occasionally told story of a locomotive lost over a cliff... which when fact checked does not hold up...

This is rough country, and that feeds the rumors...

File the story with a Pennsy switcher sitting in a flooded quarry or the loco lost in a tunnel near Santa Cruz or numerous engines who's scrapping is not well documented...

Then there's the story of the 1840s-era steam locomotive supposedly buried in a long-abandoned tunnel under a street in Brooklyn, NY........
