Can anyone identify this photo listed on eBay? It sure isn't the Uintah Railway. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... Track=true The seller said he listed the photo as the Unitah Pacific Railroad because he could read "...tah Pacific" on the baggage car and written on the back is, “Think it is the Uintah Railroad”. I am not interested in bidding, just in helping him identify the photo. |

Most likely candidate seems to be The Utah Railway. (After all, not many candidates with the -tah ending) Utah Rwy, incorporated as the Utah Coal Railway Company in Jan, 1912, name changed to Utah Railway Company in May of the same year. Utah Rwy Co sold in 2002, it is part of what we now know as the Genessee and Wyoming Railroad. |

Since it says "...tah Pacific" on the train, I would assume it is the Utah Pacific. So, once again a simple Google search find more... Apparently this road became part of the UP's LA&SL line. See link for more: http://utahrails.net/utah-rrs/utah-rrs-inc-7.php This is my best guess. Rob |

I think I've seen that photo before and think it is the Denver, Utah & Pacific, a narrow gauge predecessor of the Burlington (CB&Q, not C&S)line into Longmont, Colorado. I think the photo was taken in Longmont. If you post the link on the Narrow Gauge Discussion forum, I'm sure someone can identify it. |

Good, I was hoping that someone would remember seeing it published somewhere, now I know where to look. Interesting thing, if the picture truly is the Denver, Utah & Pacific, I grew up in Longmont, Colorado. |

The photo IS of the Denver, Utah & Pacific Number 3 at Longmont, Colorado. The photo is in Steam Tramways of Denver The Colorado Eastern Railroad Denver, Longmont and Northwestern originally published by the Rocky Mountain Railroad Club in June 1950, June 1951 and June 1952 respectively and the three stories were reprinted together as a small book later. I bought my copy of the book several years ago at the Colorado Railroad Museum. The Denver, Longmont and Northwestern was history was written my B. L. (Billy) Boyles. |
