Well-traveled 2-8-0 on display at Galveston, looking pretty good here in 2005:

Has anyone visited the Magma Arizona property in recent years? What's left there?

Ran until the early 90's down there nah?

She ran at the Railroad Museum in Galveston in the early 90's on short excursions and a mainline jaunt over to Rosenberg, Texas. She also managed to haul some freight in galveston as well. I was one of her engineers during that time period.

Why did the museum in Galveston feel the need to renumber her from her Magma Arizone number 5, to #555? Never did hear the story on that.

You know,I never heard the story about why the number was changed to 555.....perhaps it was an attempt to get it closer to T&NO numbering. i'll see what I can find out.
