There are several former Harvey Houses that are restored or are under restoration along the old Santa Fe line, but I wonder which one is restored and operates most like the famed service of old, with costumed waitresses, etc.? Can anyone elaborate? bobyar2001@yahoo.com |

The best I've experienced in recent years is the former Fred Harvey lunch counter in the Frisco depot at Hugo, Oklahoma. You could eat a decent meal there and the waitresses wore a Harvey girl uniform. It's authentic in the sense that Frisco also contracted with the Fred Harvey Company and this particular depot did have Fred Harvey meal service. I don't even think El Tovar which is still operated by Fred Harvey (Amfac) has the Harvey Girl touch any more. denmeg_hogan@msn.com |
