I need the procedure or how to gag draft gear so it can be installed. Anyone have this knowledge or where I can send the gear out to have it done.

While I have not done this, one of our volunteers is aware of the process and worked with this topic in his former professional life. PM or e mail me back channel and I can furnish his e mail address. To send yours out, Miner Industries is still very much in business in the Chicago suburbs. Certainly not local to the west coast, but perhaps a call to them would be worth it for advice, cost, or to help locate a closer source to you geographically.

If you have access to EMD Maintenance Instructions, MI-2703 has instructions for working with draftgear and a set of drawings of the necessary clamps and tools. If you do not have it, you should be able to obtain it by calling the Service Manager at Rail Systems Inc. (EMD's distributor for the shortline and industrial markets) in Houma, Louisiana.
