Post subject: Mr. K on EBT steam

FYI,

Yesterday during the EBT Fall Spectacular, Mr. Joe Kovalchick held a surprize "question and answer session" with the crowd during the noon time whistle salute. At that time he announced that, like Number 12, Numbers 14, 15, and 17 will have UT scans done on their boilers. He stressed his concern for safe operation as being a primary focus.

BTW, it was another great Spectacular with plenty of trains and trolleys to ride and photograph. Sunday's attendence seemed a little light in the morning, but by mid afternoon the EBT's "waiting to ride" line once again wrapped behind the station. I didn't notice or hear of any major problems this year. The trolley museum's new track extension is a great addition to their operation--and it sports some really fine trackwork. The tours of the EBT's shops seemed well attended. Visitors commented on and photographed several World War II (??) vintage "Fight For Freedom" posters that had been tacked on the shop walls during that long ago conflict--especially noteworthy yesterday considering the day's events elsewhere in the world.

A very big thank you goes out to Mr. K. and his family for keeping Eastie alive and open for another season for all of us to enjoy.

Regards,
Jim Robinson
