Here's a really obscure question, lets see if anyone can come up with the answer. Somewhere in the Louisiana-Texas area there was a gentleman who used to construct highly accurate models of diesel prime movers out of fine woods. He generally would use two highly contrasting types of wood for these model engines, for example building the crankcase or block out of cherry or walnut, and using birch, oak, or another light wood for the handhole covers, gear train housings, pumps, turbo or blowers, exhaust manifold, etc.

I saw his work on several occasions in the offices of companies in that area, this was about twenty years ago. The models were very impressive, usually about two feet long, the craftsmanship was superb. He seemed to specialize in EMD 567s and 645s. Does anyone contributing to this discussion know who this builder of wooden diesels is, and are any of his engine models preserved in museums?
