From railroad.net: "The two Wilton Scenic RDCs were moved by GRS/PAR to Gardner, MA yesterday and will be moved by the P&W to Quonset Point RI (Seaview Railroad). There they will be barged to Newport RI as there is no longer any rail connection to Newport. Nice to see they will be staying in New England." http://photos.nerail.org/showpic/?photo ... c_Railroad |

1. What operation will they enjoin? 2. Is Newport completely isolated, rail-wise? |

1. Newport Dinner Train 2. Yes. The bridge to the mainland was damaged by a barge several years ago and not repaired. Virtually everything now on the island came over a highway bridge or via a barge. There is talk of restoring the railroad bridge, but I wouldn't count on it. -Ed Lecuyer (whose sister's house abuts the ROW just south of said bridge.) |
