Saddle. And a nice job they made of it, very like it would have been done if it had happened in 1949.

Steam chests are the rectangular thingys on top of the cyliners with the valvy things inside them.

In 1949, it was probably more likely they would have scrapped the engine and put another in service. There were lots of used "lokies" sitting unused and awaiting scrapping all over the coal region in those days.
