That spur to the left of the photo goes to the North American Rayon plant, home of the what has to be the very last steam locomotive to be commercially used the United States, a Porter fireless cooker 0-6-0 they had there, which ran into the 1990s, never once having pulled a fan trip or excursion and ran since it was bought in the 30s...
Thanks goodness it has been preseved not too far from that site. The tracks are still there, but hasn't been run in quite a while and in danger of abandonment. The plant is gone now, the site how has a WalMart on it, and that open field in the background is now filled with retail and industrial sprawl...
