I notice two links to the Providence Journal in Flimsies today, one of them an article about the Flying Yankee restoration. Regardless of which one you click they require you to register in order to view the news article.

I have seldom seen registration-required sites where you have to uncheck the "can we send you information" box that actually honors your request, most of them end up distributing your information in some form or other, and I suspect in some cases using the keys on the sites may install spyware. Has RYPN considered adopting a policy of NOT posting any links to websites that require registration to view them?

Short (but realistic) answer no - as this would require the use of man hours that we do not have.

There are two basic work arounds. First is to copy and past the headline into google, perform a web search, and then click on the link - or google's cache of it.

Second, visit bugmenot.com and see if somebody has posted a username and password to the site in question. Supposedly there is a Mozilla plug-in that works directly with this site's database.

A third option would be to use Lexis-Nexis, however this would require having a subscription (or an affiliation with an institution that has one) in order to gain access.
