| Post subject: | A note on the INSIDE EMD program |
After I announced recently that we would do a few more showings of the INSIDE EMD 1970s plant tour slide-lecture program during 2007, there were a number of inquiries and if all of them develop it appears that all the time available for travel in 2007 will be committed for those program showings. I am going to leave it to the museums that requested showings to announce them to their members, two non-museum showings of the program presently planned are at the spring meeting of the Erie Lackawanna Historical Society in New Jersey and at the NMRA National Convention next summer. I think it is a pretty safe assumption that 2007 will be the last year that I will be doing long distance travel for this program. INSIDE EMD has had over 125 showings now, many of those were in New England, and requests now tend to be from very far away. The cost of doing even a few additional long distance showings of this program would support participation in many events closer to home. Consequently in 2008 and beyond I plan on concentrating my efforts on program events in the Northeast, preferably where the travel can be done on weekends. Thanks for your understanding, and for the interest that many of your organizations have shown in hosting showings of the INSIDE EMD program. This has been quite a remarkable journey, I never anticipated that a program about the place I worked three decades ago would be so popular. Preston Cook |

| Post subject: | A note on the Winton Engine Company program |
Several people contacted me recently on and off this forum to ask whether I would be making the Winton Engine Company program that was referenced in the Winton article more available. With a very full schedule for the EMD program in 2007, it appears likely that the Winton program will only be shown in the New England area for a while. I am sorry about that, but the time and resources available to support long distance travel are very limited right now. |
