I think (from the photo URL) that this is the engine sitting under the locomotive hoist at the Alamosa shops in 1958, ready to be loaded aboard a flatcar for the trip to Golden and the then-abuilding Colorado RR Museum. It had previously been displayed at the Narrow Gauge Motel, south of Alamosa.

It was going to Magic Mountain, near Golden, where it was converted to burn oil and operated a couple of years on a loop of track. No. 42 was never taken to the Colorado RR Museum. It's now in Durango.
