Really, this was taken just the other day at the Huckleberry RR in Michigan, but if you squint (the enginehouse is metal, not wood), it could almost pass for Montrose in the early 1950s:

Here are some a photos of the general area, though I couldn't find one of the 464 in the same position:

318 and 454 or 456, in 1953 (318 is going to the Narrow Gauge Motel here):

318 and its diesel replacement, in 1953:

605 and 340 in 1951:

318 in 1950:

317 in 1948 (parts of it are in today's 318)

452 in 1942:

315 (may be done next year) in 1940:

The 464 itself in 1940 (before the flying Rio Grande):

And the 315 again, in 1940:

The K27s were being used over Cerro Summit to the east, and south over the Rio Grande Southern. The 2-8-0s were used mostly on the Ouray Branch, which was too light for the 2-8-2s. Montrose had 3-railed trackage into 1953, when the Ouray Branch and RGS were removed, and the line standard gauged as far as Ridgway. The SG line was pulled up in the 1980s
