The best part of the RyPN magazine was Brother Bob Yarger's news section. Fortunately, he's still at it.

I'm long overdue to thank him for a posting to this forum in which he described the English translation of the China Rail QJ Operators manual by Hans Schaeffer, and included the link. I clicked on it and printed it out, and had the book in 10 minutes for the cost of paper and ink. That book changed my life. Thank you, Bob Yarger.

Indeed, without Bob we would be in the dark about decades worth of railway preservation. My decade in China was the 1980s, firing SL Pacifics & those 2' gauge Baldwin 0-10-0s in Yunnan Provence. Life changing, to say the least.
