The best part of the RyPN magazine was Brother Bob Yarger's news section. Fortunately, he's still at it. I'm long overdue to thank him for a posting to this forum in which he described the English translation of the China Rail QJ Operators manual by Hans Schaeffer, and included the link. I clicked on it and printed it out, and had the book in 10 minutes for the cost of paper and ink. That book changed my life. Thank you, Bob Yarger. |

Indeed, without Bob we would be in the dark about decades worth of railway preservation. My decade in China was the 1980s, firing SL Pacifics & those 2' gauge Baldwin 0-10-0s in Yunnan Provence. Life changing, to say the least. |
