WWII variety. Taken on a tour in 2000. Stuffed and mounted at a station, but looking good then. I imagine the weather has taken its toll since. http://abpr.railfan.net/abprphoto.cgi?o ... steam1.jpg Just the front here, I'm guessing an SU 2-6-2. Not sure what 1936 signifys, perhaps the year the engine was built? http://abpr.railfan.net/abprphoto.cgi?o ... steam4.jpg |

It is actually one of several WWI and WWII Russian Decapods on display across the former Soviet Union; most appear to be in great shape in the pictures I've seen. One of the WWI variety is famous for having a Russian patriot burned alive in its firebox by Japanese invaders. bobyar2001 wrote: Just the front here, I'm guessing an SU 2-6-2. http://abpr.railfan.net/abprphoto.cgi?o ... steam4.jpg Yes, it is Su212-30; on display at the electric depot in Khabarovsk II. I am not sure if 1936 is the date the locomotive was built (I have 1925 listed; but it could be wrong); or the date the depot was built. There are at least six "half locomotive" displays like this across the former Soviet Union; there may others worldwide, but they seem especially popular in the former USSR. -James Hefner Hebrews 10:20a Surviving World Steam Project |
