Recently back under steam, 2860 here at Revelstoke, BC about 1949:

Both 3100-series 4-8-4 engines are preserved at Museums in Canada.

The 3100 is nicely displayed indoors at the National Museum of Science and Technology at Ottawa.

The 3101 is displayed outdoors at IPSCO Park at Regina, Saskatchewan.

Unless otherwise noted, most all of the locomotives I post links to photos of still exist, although sometimes there will be a long departed engine in the foreground, with a building behind, that still exists.

First of all, they are Northerns, not Mountains, and the only two the CPR ever owned still survive.

Yes, but they only had two, just as they only had two Northerns.. 2900 and 2901.

And I'm assuming that neither 2900 or 2901 was preserved. Right?

Correct, both were scrapped, but I do not have the dates. The Omer LaVallee CPR steam book might have more details, but I don't own it.

I learn something new every day. I didn't know CPR had 4-8-2s. Bob, do you think you can find a picture of them in your cyberspace travels? A quick google search reveals they were assigned to the Maritimes; at least late in their career. They were class I-1-a built by Angus shops in 1914. Pretty big power for that time. It looks like 2901 was the first to go in 1944 followed by 2900 in 1945. Here's a link mentioning them:
