| Post subject: | American locomotive crane safely moved to Travel Town Museum |
After 6 years stored on the Levitz spur across the LA River from Griffith park, the 40 ton capacity American Locomotive Crane was safely moved by truck from its storage location to the Travel Town Museum in Los Angeles yesterday. I'll write up a much more extensive brief or article over the next few days (it's been a long 12 hour day) and a long week of mechanical preparations, but the move was made successfully and safely Thursday. The machinery house was placed back on the lower works late in the afternoon, but we still have a lot of internal reassembly as well as rerigging the boom and hook to be done over the next few months. Profound thanks go to the crews from Smith Brothers/Certified Crane and Homer Mann trucking for making it happen within the 12 hours allowed and preserving through some very difficult unloading conditions.
