Folks, When the Bethlehem steel plant closed in the late 90s all the former PRR ore jennies were sent to scrap. Or so we thought. Amazingly enough, one escaped the scrappers torch and I was able to save it. If you are interested in the details, please see the new pages on my web site. I plan to start the preservation work soon. There were about 200 simular looking "jennys" in a storage yard around ST.Louis. Look alot alike. We were going to buy 30 not sure how many are left. This was only about 2 months ago. |

There is also one at the Railroad Museum of PA that has finished undergoing restoration. It sat outside for the summer and was moved inside in September. |

Scott, Great work and great save! I am truely amazed at what you have been able to find and restore. I have a question, what is the approximate cost of moving a car like that from Altoona to Ringoes? Chris |

That would be a great idea, since they look much better in a "herd" and typically travelled in a group. (Yes, I know, not always, but it was certainly rather common to see a bunch of 'em) |

We would be buying them for In plant service in a steel mill. No "heard" use. would end up pretty rough in 10 more years. I'm not sure where the other ones already sold are ending up. |
