For those of us of a certain age, who remember Gil Reid from his days as art director of Trains magazine, this is saddening. He offered prints of his artwork, which were often advertised in the pages of Trains, that reflected an era in railroading that, even then, was fading fast. He will be missed. -- Ray

Goodbye to another giant of the age when steam was the expected, not the rarity. His drawings and paintings were often the standard for railroad artwork.
