As many of you know, the Western Railway Museum opened a new visitor center last spring. Since that time the Bay Association's Library and Archives has moved into one wing of the building. We have vacated a 1923 Pullman built baggage car that is Sante Fe 1772. That car served long and well but car barn space is (always) at a premium. Can anyone suggest a possible home for the car? It would have to be moved by truck as it does not have roller bearings. What museum has an interest in the Sante Fe Railway? While there is a lot of light weight Sante Fe equipment around, there is not much from the heavy weight era. Ted Miles ted_miles@NPS.gov |

Hi Ted; I don't have a contact, but probably the guys working on the Santa Fe 4-8-4 in Pueblo, CO could use it. Dave irondave@bellsouth.net |

The car has been in a car barn for the past 25 years, but the steel on the roof especially the cleasestry windows is in poor shape. Otherwise, the doors, including the two big sliding doors are pretty good. All underbody gear is present but has not moved in many years. Parts of the interior have had house paint slapped around. The wooden floor is present, as are the steel frames and hooks for the mail bags. The toilet room is present. ted_miles@NPS.gov |
