Can someone describe the official model number and style of the B-2 trucks used under the TTC 4600 series rebuilds now in service in Silver Spring, Kenosha and elsewhere? As in B-2x with (blank)resillient wheels? Any other technical information would be appreciated.

Our substitute PCC trucks from SHRT 75 used to regauge TTC 4603 are showing signs of wear, so we are looking at having the original Toronto trucks regauged by an outside firm.

Why not just replace the worn wheels on the SHRT trucks? That would be far easier than regauging the original trucks if the car is already running with the trucks that are under it now. Also, I beleive the SHRT and TTC trucks have different wheel profiles- don't know what most of your fleet has there, but keep that in mind as well.

Super-resilient wheels (the ones with multiple small nuts holding the wheel on) are available and easy to install.

Kenosha, by the way, swapped in Chicago rapid transit car trucks with solid wheels.

I do not have any documents for the Toronto trucks. I know that in earlier years, the TTC bougt many standard gauge cars and widened out the wheel gauge to suit them. You might be able to re-gauge what you have received from the TTC.

However, from the photo shown, it looks like you TTC car has some sort of super resiliant wheels on it now, and as you say, originally where from Shaker Hieghts.

Why not buy new wheels and install them ? Penn Machine still makes new ones for San Francisco.

I don't know all the differances. I do know of a museum that had obtained some of the Shaker wheels, and they did not fit onto thier standard gauge B-3 trucks. They were trying to change the profile from a standard streetcar to a wider one, I am not sure if the shaker wheels they had were compromise or RR tread. FYI- Some wheels are interchangeable, B-2 and B-3, but there was some issue with these that made them un suitable.

Thanks all for your comments. Our problem is not with the super-resilient wheels, flanges, or tread - it is the suspension that is failing. We are trying to prevent seasickness!

The rotary shocks are made by Enidine in Orchard Park MY. The contact name is Daniel Covelli @ 716 - 662 - 1900 X 167 , the part numbers are, the rotary shock - 0715595-000 (@ est. $550.00 ea) and the connecting link #0708170-033 (@ est. $ 125.00). You'll also have to have one other 90 degree part fabriated.

Or you can go with some heavy duty truck type shocks. If you contact me via e mail I can send some photos and other info.
