Recently the diesel shop crews here removed all the exterior sheathing on FPA-4 6793 (the only one still with Passenger gearing) and removed all the rusted portions and put it all back together. The '93 is now wearing a silver with gold and red bands just as our Budd passenger cars (as repainted) and our F40FH carry . The Gold band is almost twice as wide as the original gold band. Unlike our F40FH, the railroad name is below the band in black (vs red letters inside the gold on the F40) and still follow the graceful curve of the front of the locomotive . Also...no Website or Phone number. While I am more partial toward the green livery of the diesels, I can see why the Railroad prefers the silver, since it carries more streamlined cars now than ever before. I also thought the web address and phone number were the wrong way to promote this railroad, since there are no real towns between Williams and the South Rim. My guess is that the heavy publicity in publications, especially AAA magazines, brought more riders than the painted "ads". Perhaps another RR, running in a more populated area, could benefit from this sort of on-train advertising, but not the Grand Canyon. Good job on the paint. I hope the steamers are still running well. |

Thank you for the report William. Does the unit retain its steam generator? Many thanks, Tom Cornillie |
