The Thursday volunteer group at MOT mus have just taken this on as their next project. A couple of weeks ago, I noticed one of the members of that group was fabricating pieces to replaced rotted metal in the cab. The group has done some excellent work as of late, including the cosmtic restoration of a MOPAC RS-3, and two cabooses.

I hope so, too. It's a shame that both surviving NY Central mainline steam locomotives are subjected to the elements. So few survivors from a fleet of so many.

You know, any of the restorations at MOT would make an execellent topic for a breif. It need not be an extensive single work. A paragraph or two and a few photos on a single project would be most welcome - and would provide some regular publicity for the museum.

Thank you Mr. Cornille, I've been talking up the same idea.
I have no camera, film or digital, but Molly has been busy.
Can't post pictures, but here is a short rundown on what has been going on at MOT:
A BN caboose,nee N.P. has been repainted in it's original scheme and number (including "The Mainstreet of the Northwest") and the large monad.
A MoP road caboose (looks like a transfer cab.) looks like new.
A MoP RS-3 has been cosmetically restored.
The Ill.Terminal class "B" is in the process. Has new window sash, doors and roof and the work is ongoing.
Some work is being done on the interior of the Aerotrain coaches.
A lot of trackwork is under way, rebuilding switches, replacing ties and rail, is being done by the streetcar group.
Not railroad, but still transportation, the automobile building was completely rebuilt with an addition, new lighting, air conditioning, heating etc.

I could had I not dropped my digital camera a few months ago.

I still have some access to some photos, I'll see what I can put together. My last semester of school is keeping me busy and away from MOT on the weekends, so I'll have to see what I can do.

I like to hear about restoration, and MOT has certainly been busy at it. Keep up the good work. Another place I would like to revisit, last visit May 1988. I am big Wabash fan, good to hear the engine has got needed work also.
