I havent seen this movie but it sounds like an excellent candidate for a remake. Hollywood seems to like remakes.

There was so much real steam action in that film that Hollyweird could not duplicate, even with computers. That includes abuse of engines with the "push pull" or tug of war contest involving lots of driver slipping. It was entertaining, though.
