I believe the large "31" sign hanging on each side of the boiler dates these photos to appearances at the B&O's Centennial Exposition/Fair of the Iron Horse at Halethorpe, Md. in 1927, and the background of the second photo also matches. I trust Brother Harwood to correct me if I'm wrong. |

My mother told me that for some length of time the Dewitt Clinton was on display at Grand Central Terminal. Based on her age and remembering it as a child this must have been in the 1930's. |

Note the "modern" safety valve on the top of the dome. I always found the original safety valve interesting as when it pops, it creates a draft when the exhaust issues up the stack. |
