Both look like photos to me. This replica- was it steam powered?

I believe the large "31" sign hanging on each side of the boiler dates these photos to appearances at the B&O's Centennial Exposition/Fair of the Iron Horse at Halethorpe, Md. in 1927, and the background of the second photo also matches. I trust Brother Harwood to correct me if I'm wrong.

My mother told me that for some length of time the Dewitt Clinton was on display at Grand Central Terminal. Based on her age and remembering it as a child this must have been in the 1930's.

Note the "modern" safety valve on the top of the dome. I always found the original safety valve interesting as when it pops, it creates a draft when the exhaust issues up the stack.
