Well, I'm not sure what will happen to Mr. Holm's collection, but whoever gets it, I hope they will restore 2-8-0 #557 back to her Alaska Railroad appearance. Only a couple of the ARR's S-160's had their headlights mounted in the center of the smokebox and I believe the 557 may have been one. I earnestly hope the 557 eventually finds a home that can give her a lot of TLC, whether remaining where she currently is, or moving elsewhere.

An International Miniature Railway Co. Amusement park locomotive, or early Cagney perhaps?

We believe that the miniature steam locomotive is a Herschell Spillman. Though it looks like a Cagney, there are some minor differences that lead us to believe it is not a true Cagney. The valve gear is simply for looks. The current configuration is not correct for the locomotive. http://www.trainweb.org/parktrains/hist ... index.html

Wasatch Railroad Contractors has purchased the miniature locomotive and plans on restoring it. We currently have one miniature live steamer. We are also building a few new boilers. One of which will be for the new addition to our steam family. We plan on having the small steamer at our shop by June or July of this year and hope to have it operating in the next few years. www.wasatch-rr-contractors.com

The Monte Collection is a real jewel. This equipment is in great shape and really deserves a good home where it can run and be maintained.

I was able to spend a few hours strolling the grounds at the House Of Poverty, and the condition and completeness (is that a word?) of the consolidation is impressive, in fact all of the equiptment looked good, both I'm sure due to the fact that it was Mr. Holms passion and the climate is agreeable with steel stuff parked outside. I also thought that the miniature locomotive might be a Cagney....and I gotta say John, the article in" Live Steam" a few, or is it several years back on the restoration of your Cagney has always been one of my favorites. Good luck with the restoration, I'm glad to hear that at least part of the collection, and hopefully all of it winds up in good hands.

Hello all,

Does anybody here have the number and reporting marks for the tank car - or even some additional photos of it.

Many thanks,
Tom Cornillie

Tom,

I asked the owners to look for some additional info on the car to be able to pass on to you. It may take a day or two. You are welcome to contact me by phone in a day or two if you like.

(307)-286-2833

Once I have it I will pass it on.
