Anyone here collect locomotive whistles? Iv got a few copied ones a Southern 3 chime and a Banshee whistle.

Whistles are something I'd like to get into, but I only have interest in a select few...which are a bit pricey for an 18 year old.

I do collect airhorns though, and have a couple of nice Leslie S-5Ts among the collection.

Favorite whistles have to be Hancock 3 chime long bell, and Nathan step top 6 chime.-Jeffrey

Hancock 3 chimes are pretty common though you'll pay alot for them. Nathan 6's are a lil harder to come by i'v only seen 1 or 2 ever sale. Check out my buddy and mines web site www.gottrains.com and www.steam-whistles.com

Yeah, those sites are in my favorites. I see my horn buddy Mike Mullins in some of the archive pictures (and at least one of his horns)

I've seen one 6 chime for sale, and as of July, the seller still had it. We both volunteered on the same tourist line and so he said he was willing to go lower on it.

Despite the generous offer, I still cannot afford a toy like that right now.

Although my main interest is air horns, I still really love steam whistles... always harmonic, always haunting in the distance. I've yet to hear a whistle I honestly though was terrible (can't say that for Nathan K3LAs)

Get the "Ghost Whistles at Cass" CD and listen to the PRR "screamer" whistle. It is the worst-sounding steam whistle I have ever heard, period.

I have a couple whistles, but they're all small things from tractors. I actually thought about building a steam motor car to go under one of my whistles a while back, but sanity prevailed. And the Museum wouldn't sell the M-19 frame I was going to use.

Ah its all what you like. Probably one of my favs in the PRR Banshee. Artie built one called the "ghost whistle" its on a powell bowl its an interesting whistle. 3 chimes are my fav though there is a few 6 chimes though that arnt to bad either.
