One of the more out of place cabooses has to be the ex-Wabash sloped cupola car in N&W lettering parked next to the public library in the former PRR station at California, PA. I've never seen it put to any use and it has not gotten any paint or other care since arriving c.10-15 years ago. California is on the former PRR line between Shire Oaks and West Brownsville. Certainly a PRR car would have been at home there, but this one must have been available cheap. (Before you ask, I do not recall the car number.)

David -

According to a list of Surviving Wabash equipment put out by the WRHS, this is Wabash #2851. Most of these streamlined cupola cabooses were built in the railroads own shops in Decatur, Illinois but the last 10 were built by International Car Company. I believe that this is one of that particular series of cars.
