Post subject: Plymouth Engine in Pinckneyville IL
PostPosted: Tue Nov 06, 2001 11:47 pm

An article in tonights Du Quoin Evening Call reports that the American Thresherman Association has been granted permission by the Pinckneyville, IL City Council to display a Plymouth Engine at the Pinckneyville Fairgrounds. The article states that the engine will be refurbished before the next show in August of 2002.

If memory serves correctly the Plymouth will join an ICRR caboose and a Crown Steam Engine (ran during events) as well as some antique farm equipment including steam engines at the Pinckneyville Fairgrounds.

The article also says that the Plymouth is one of six in existence. Does that sound reasonable?

That would depend on what model it is. The 10 ton model JLA, for instance, is rather rare, especially those with their original Climax gasoline engines intact. All in all, there are a great number of Plymouths still hanging around.
