Anyone know what the purpose or fate is for the pair of heavily vandalized Budd RDC's, sitting just outside of the yard area of Boston's North Station? I just caught a glimpse of them in the dark, so I was unable to assess much first hand. Are these ex-B&M cars? If so, are they training cars, privately owned, or doomed?

They are owned by MBTA, had been at Billerica, and were moved to Boston Engine Terminal in anticipation of possible use as extra office space. However they were so deteriorated and vandalized that the plan was not implemented and there they sit. Sorry, I do not know the exact origin of the cars, so no point guessing. Perhaps someone else can pin down their original identity exactly.

Interesting, and thank you! Unlikely they'd be ex-New Haven, so B&M is the most likely choice. I wonder if they are restorable for operation or as static display pieces? It's amazing how vandals get into these places and seem to have unleashed opportunities to do anything they please.
