Just a nice photo of this old caboose on the end of an Rio Grande Southern train. I played in it briefly as a kid when it was parked with two other cars at Ridgway, Colorado in 1958, near the old roundhouse, which was by then a sawmill. I think it ended up on the Georgetown Loop, but not sure if it is at Golden or Silver Plume now. http://abpr.railfan.net/abprphoto.cgi?s ... enColl.jpg No. 20 at the Museum in 1968. It may be steaming again, as will the 346 (which also worked on the RGS, both as a D&RGW engine and for the Montezuma Lumber Company). http://abpr.railfan.net/abprphoto.cgi?s ... enColl.jpg A very derelict Galloping Goose 2 at Ridgway in 1952, again operable today at Golden. http://abpr.railfan.net/abprphoto.cgi?s ... enColl.jpg Goose 4 at Telluride, the only one of the flock that has not been made operable again. http://abpr.railfan.net/abprphoto.cgi?s ... anColl.jpg Goose 5 at Ridgway in 1952, once again a moving piece of history. http://abpr.railfan.net/abprphoto.cgi?s ... enColl.jpg Ex-C&S 74, on one of the excursions, about 1949. http://abpr.railfan.net/abprphoto.cgi?s ... enColl.jpg And 74 parked at Ridgway, 7/52, probably just before it was shipped to Boulder. Though heavily dismantled at Strasburg (Colorado), it is not a likely candidate for operation at this time. http://abpr.railfan.net/abprphoto.cgi?s ... enColl.jpg Goose 7 at the Museum, in more recent years. http://abpr.railfan.net/abprphoto.cgi?s ... enColl.jpg |
