It isn't a locomotive, but it is interesting none the less. These are relatively rare cars, and sound to be quite complete. Not sure if they have trucks though. Follow the link... http://www.democratherald.com/articles/ ... 3_rail.txt Thanks, Taylor |

Hi, I recall Heather telling me about these last year. I think these are the bodies only -- no trucks or underframe. The PFE cars were built with a wooden body that sat on the steel frame. |

Brian, I only live about twenty miles from where these cars are, I'm going to try and see them if I can. Regardless, being reasonably protected for 70 years makes them fairly rare wooden cars. I wouldn't think trucks would be too terribly hard to find for them. I wonder what museum would take them if the warehouse gets torn down. Thanks, Taylor |

Brian, I just reread your post, the frame itself might be a bit harder to acquire. I guess they'd make good storage if nothing else. Thanks, Taylor |

Depending on what is missing in the underframe area, that could be trucks, couplers, draft gear, brake components, reservoir, rigging, piping, and a wealth of other stuff. Much of that would indeed be hard to find today. So I hope you do get to see the cars, and are surprised pleasantly with what is left. Please try to take and post pics. Bob Kutella |
