All three are on the block. The best one is the 42:

Let's see, I'm hearing $150-200 a steel ton at the scrap yard near the GG1 in Baltimore, depending on the quality of what you're dragging in, so............ figure that a S12 is perhaps 120-130 tons, and we're not factoring in those copper-laden traction motors which presumably will go with the locos.......

And by the way, as an aside, now 4876 is missing a door. It wasn't me, I swear.

Idea:

Does CSRM Sacramento have a Santa Fe Baldwin languishing in the dead line?

Get one of the Sierra Baldwins, and then deaccession the ATSF one to a home elsewhere on ATSF.

Just brainstorming.............

I believe the $200/ton is the price for HMS, or heavy melt scrap. HMS is a spec that implies material of a certain size and composition ready to go into the hold of a cargo ship.

The margin between that price and what the scrap dealer pays for the complete item is where they make their profit-after expenses of rendering the item in question.

Aside from that, WEMCO 370 traction motors are still in demand for use on oil drilling rigs.
