Thankfully both are still with us.

I remember reading once that the 11 somehow lost a main or side rod while stored in Pa. Is this true? Does anybody care to comment?

The 12 is still sitting in the enginehouse in Clearfield, along with some Baldwin diesels of varying states, and the remains of a wooden box car on the property as well.
