VERY interesting 1920's newsreal of New Orleans. After a little history, you get steam trains getting on ferry's, paddle wheelers, unloading banana boats, and whole trains loaded on ships for Cuba.

You also get "LEVEE'S PROTECT NEW ORLEANS."

The scenes that showed the freight cars being loaded onto the ocean-going ship reminded me of a photo of a West India Fruit Steamship Co. boxcar that is in one of my books.

Are there any books or other writings on this interesting long-distance rail ferry company?

I noticed a glimpse of a Pearly-Thomas streetcar, which would date the film post 1919. The biggest sternwheel steamboat featured is the excursion steamer Capitol. This is really rare footage.
