I am looking to hire a full time fireman as of May 1st. This person must have experience as a steam locomotive fireman, preferably with firing oil, but do not hesitate to respond if our experience is in burning little black rocks. The railroad in which you would be firing on has a fair amount of 3+ percent grade, so I would like to find someone with experience in mountain territory.

Job Duties

Fire locomotive

Assist in maintaining locomotive

Assist in the restoration of other locomotives owned by the company

Assist in the restoration of the heavyweight coach collection owned by the company

Pay is based on experience

Medical insurance is available after the first 90 days with the company.

Please respond by email if you are interested with a summary of your experience with firing a steam locomotive and your all around steam experience, along with a description of other skills you may have in which you might think would add value to my team. I will also need your contact information and a list of references.

Thank You,
Brian Fleming, President

When I was little my grandpappy and I were in Galesburg and he took me to see the 3006. He used to run it when he was an engineer on the Burlington. Ever since then I wanted to run steam locomotives. I asked for a job at a couple tourrist lines, but they want you to have experince. How can you get experince? I know their are some pros on this board. What advice would you give someone trying to work on steam? Thanks!

Find a Museum with a steam program and sign up and help and learn.
