I looked over the web site of the Historical Society over the weekend and found it was way out of date. Is there any recent news on any of the three cars that they are working on? It seems to be one of the few projects that are successfully bringing passenger cars back to life. It must also be very expensive to do such work. But Pennsylvania is one of the few states where railroad preservation projects are getting TEA-21 grants. Ted Miles |

Work continues on both EL Diner 741 and NKP Pullman City of Lima. I will be visiting Illinois Transit Assembly on Friday morning to go over the work list on City of Lima. Meanwhile, in Kansas City, Midwest Locomotive continues to prepare Diner 741 for paint. The news might be coming out slowly, but there are definitely exciting things happening! ELDCPS is a member-driven organization, and as an added benefit of membership, we always try to release updated information to our members first. Because of this, information on the website can sometimes be older than current. This has been a challenge for us since the beginning, because we obviously want to show that our project in continuning, and not "stale". Usually, when something "big" happens, such as the painting of City of Lima, or the movement of one of our cars, we will put that information on the website immediately. I will be going through the website to bring it a little more up-to-date as of our last newsletter in the next few weeks. However, the most current information will continue to be in the newsletter, The Diner Digest, and on the Members-Only Area of the website. If you are not already a member, you can find membership information at http://www.eldcps.org/donations.html. Remember, membership dues, donations and purchases from our online store go a long way towards restoring our cars. Michael Steinberg VP-Communications, ELDCPS http://www.eldcps.org |
