Good piece on this unique municipally-owned railway, which has cheated death numerous times, but still hosts a dinner train and the Mt. Emily Lumber Shay. At one time in the 1960s and 1970s the road was profitable enough to eliminate local property taxes on homes in the community. http://www.trainweb.org/highdesertrails/cop.html |
