Looking good and under cover in Nashville last year:

This looks like a professional job. Was the asbestos removed? Anyone have more information?

Very similar to the NdeM 4-8-4s, like the 3028 here in Mexico, DF:

Compared to photos I took of this loco in November 2004, I see no indications of the asbestos having been removed. Looks like they just painted her.

Bob,

I think the 3028 is at New Hope, PA for an EXTENDED rebuild. Could it be 3038 in Mexico City?

The asbestos was removed in 1997.

I plan on seeing that NdeM engine run. I figure it's as close as I'm ever likely to get to seeing a Dixie run.
