In a fit of insanity, we've decided to translate www.steamlocomotive.info into the following languages:

Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Swedish.

Most of the site will be translated, the Webmaster's Log won't, at least not initially. These are machine translations, done by Systran's fine software product. They are, at core, machine translations, though and subject to all the oddities that come with that method. Rather than translating dynamically, we're doing it statically so that native speakers can tidy up the translations before they are inflicted on our visitors.

In a week or so, a "Language Ribbon" will appear on the front page allowing you to choose among the languages listed above. It is expected that completion of the translations will take about six months. They will appear, piecemeal, as they are accomplished.
