Nice piece on this industrial RR in Indiana, from which one steam locomotive remains, displayed at Bensenville, Illinois:

I saw no info on your link of a surviving steam loco at Bensenville. Could you fill us in?

Studebaker #1 was later Chicago Gravel Co. 18, and it is displayed as such in Bensenville.

The question I have is - would Studebaker enthuasiasts be willing to support the preservation and restoration of Studebaker Alco S-2 #3?

Link to a photo from inside the abandoned Studebaker factory. My question is what are all those engines and transmissions from/for? Perhaps for the derelict buses on the back wall in the photo?

Hard to beleive somebody hasn't scrapped them yet.

Didn't AM General use the Studebaker plant to build buses for WMATA and other agencies? Is this the remains of that ill-fated deal?
